Directions — the TARE protocol

15 g — three scoops — 30 to 60 minutes before training, on training days, with 50 to 100 mg of vitamin C. That is a directions statement and not a serving declaration: the panel on the tub declares 10 g and 35 servings, and 35 is the only servings-per-container figure we print anywhere.

At 15 g a tub gives 23 whole doses, plus one orphan scoop that cannot make a 24th. At four training days a week that is 40 days; at five, 32 days. Protein at the protocol dose: 9.8 g measured per 10 g serving; 1.5 servings is 14.7 g by arithmetic.

What the evidence shows, and where it stops*

Shaw, Lee-Barthel, Ross, Wang and Baar (Am J Clin Nutr 2017;105(1):136–143) compared 5 g and 15 g of gelatin with vitamin C one hour before loading. The 15 g dose roughly doubled serum PINP. That was eight healthy male participants and a blood marker, not a tendon. A 2026 systematic review in JFMK reports tendon cross-sectional area and stiffness rising at 15–30 g a day when the tissue is loaded. Thirty grams produced nothing beyond fifteen — more is not better.

Now the limits, in our own words, because you would find them anyway. A 2024 meta-analysis found no significant effect on strength. No randomised controlled trial shows reduced injury rates, and we never imply one. Aussieker and van Loon (MSSE 2023) found 30 g after exercise produced no increase in muscle connective protein synthesis — collagen is not a muscle-building protein and we do not sell it as one. It has zero tryptophan, low leucine and a DIAAS effectively zero, and “it is hydrolysed gelatin” is largely true. On skin, Myung and Park (Am J Medicine 2025) pooled 23 randomised trials across 1,474 people and the independently funded ones showed no effect. We make no skin claims.

Testing

ViaCore Nutrition tested lot 121125450 — the lot our own 350 g tub was filled from. Protein 9.8 g against a 9 g specification, method ISO 14891:2002. Lead 0.07 mcg against a 0.5 mcg limit; mercury, arsenic and cadmium below detectable limits. Total plate count, E. coli, salmonella, yeast and mould all pass. ViaCore is the manufacturer’s own laboratory rather than an outside one, and that is a weaker check — you should hear it from us. Safety

The label prints no allergen statement for this product. The only ingredient statement on the label is the Supplement Facts line for collagen peptides.
